High School students in all Guilford County Schools are encouraged to participate in Service Learning Opportunities throughout their four years of high school.  Service learning is the combination of academic learning and community need.  Students can pursue opportunities on their own as well as participate in opportunities that teachers develop in conjunction with their curriculum.

Service Learning projects must be completed after prior approval.  Students will then log their service learning hours into the volunteer website.  Students who log 70 – 99 hours during their four years in high school will receive Service Learning Honors recognition.  Those who log 100 – 199 hours during their four years will receive a Service Learning Award and those who log 200+ hours during high school will receive a Service Learning Diploma and cord for graduation.

For more information about Service Learning at Kearns contact Ms. Wilmoth (wilmotm@gcsnc.com) or refer to the GCS Service Learning website for more details.
